IS JESUS REALLY AN INVITED GUEST IN YOUR HOME?
The difference in how we treat these situations is clear. This same principle applies to our relationship with Jesus in our homes. Is He someone you’ve consciously invited in, or does He feel like an uninvited visitor in your life?
Have You Kept Your Wedding Day Promise?

God doesn’t want to simply be a symbolic part of your marriage—He desires to dwell in it. The Bible reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1). But for Him to truly feel at home, there are certain conditions that need to be met.
A Home Where Love Lives
First, God is love (1 John 4:8). A home devoid of love is not one where God can thrive. When a marriage becomes mechanical—just about paying bills, managing responsibilities, and getting through the day—it can lose its heart.
Love isn’t just a feeling; it’s a decision, a commitment to serve, forgive, and cherish one another daily. “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). Without love, a home becomes a place of duty rather than a sanctuary of grace.
Peace Must Reign
Have you ever walked into a room and felt tension in the air? It’s hard to feel at peace in an atmosphere filled with arguments, bitterness, or unresolved conflict.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and peace is a hallmark of His presence. But peace doesn’t happen by accident—it’s cultivated. That means choosing to resolve disagreements quickly, letting go of grudges, and striving for harmony. The Bible says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9).
Is your home a place of peace, or is it dominated by strife? Creating an atmosphere of peace is one of the best ways to make Jesus feel welcomed.
Is There Joy in Your Home?
The Bible says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). But in the grind of daily life, joy can sometimes feel like a luxury. Stress, work, and responsibilities can steal the laughter and lightness that make a home feel alive.
Joy doesn’t mean you’re happy 24/7. It’s about finding strength in God, even during tough seasons. It’s in the shared moments of laughter, the gratitude for small blessings, and the trust in God’s faithfulness.
When was the last time your home echoed with laughter? Is there an atmosphere of gratitude and hope, even in challenging times? A joyful home is a place where Jesus loves to dwell.
Making Space for Jesus
If Jesus is truly the Lord of your home, He deserves time and attention. Are you setting aside moments for family prayer, worship, or Bible study? Is His Word guiding how you treat your spouse and children? Or is your home more focused on what you and your spouse want, leaving Jesus as an afterthought?
Inviting Jesus into your home means creating a space where He is honored and welcomed daily.
If you've invited Jesus into your home and marriage, you're tasked with the responsibility of doing things to please him and making him feel comfortable because he didn't show up on his own, you invited him.
A Call to Reflection
Reflect on your home. Is it filled with love, peace, and joy? Are you prioritizing time with God? If these elements are missing, it’s not too late to reset. Start today by intentionally creating an environment where Jesus feels at home.
- Forgive where forgiveness is needed.
- Let go of grudges.
- Make room for family devotions and joyful moments.
- Create moments of joy and gratitude, even in the mundane.
Let God’s presence transform your home into a sanctuary. Jesus isn’t just a guest in our homes—He’s family. But how we treat Him reflects whether He’s an honored part of our lives or just passing through.
Let’s make Him the invited guest who stays forever.
